Nikon D70 - Off to Australia

Maybe its just that I feel I need an excuse to purchase a new camera, but each new device seems to have its own special "first trip". The Nikon was no exception! My buddy Andy Ward had won a holiday of a lifetime for 4 people and was taking me along for a 3 week five-star stay in Australia, business Class fights, the works. It was a dream holiday and I needed a camera that was fit for purpose. A bit of research and a trip back to the shop in Swindon that flogged my Konica and I had a new Nikon D70 with a Tamron 28-205mm lens. I'd actually just bought a new car, a Caterham 7 Superlight and my first dozen shots with the camera were of my car on the outskirts of Swindon with the sun setting. Happy days! The camera itself was awesome. I love the feel of Nikons and one day I may well return to own a full frame DSLR, but at the time the 5mp D70 was all I could afford and was more than enough. The Tamron lens had slow AF was loud and the image quality was probably rubbish, but it did have a monster range and was the perfect lens for all occasions. I still love looking through some of my shots of Australia.
